Free Parents and Carers Event (PACE) - 15th June 2017 at Princes Hall, Aldershot

The Rushmoor and Hart Supporting Families programme is supporting a Parent & Carer Event (PACE) at the Princes Hall in Aldershot on Thursday 15th June from 11am to 7pm, which will provide information, advice, and support to parents and carers of young people up to the age of 18 years - this includes school teaching staff. It is being managed by CAMHS in Hampshire using a model that has already proven successful in other districts.

The main aims are:
  • To engage families in understanding the needs and difficulties Young People face and increase their confidence and knowledge in managing potential issues or concerns
  • To provide information in a way that is engaging and non-threatening
  • To present information that will destigmatise Mental illness and other related issues
  • To raise awareness of potential issues and where to seek help, advice and support
 The format comprises:
Workshops
The specialist workshops are focussed on providing parents and carers with the skills and knowledge to manage and understand where to seek support if required, in a timely manner. There will be a rolling programme of 45-minute workshops on specific topics run by skilled and knowledgeable individuals, covering topics such as eating issues, self-harm, low mood, anxiety, neurodevelopmental disorders, parenting, behaviour issues, substance use, etc.
The event will be in two, repeated, sections to capture working parents and those with young children.
The website is now live to bookings of the workshops by parents and carers. The website www.fitfesthampshire.com has much more information about the workshops available.
